About the initiative

A dedicated team

Our team is committed to addressing the digital needs of the entire acquisition and sustainment enterprise from a short- and long-term perspective. We’re looking beyond mission sets, breaking down barriers, and enabling digital innovators by connecting them with the information, resources, and support they need to outpace our adversaries.

“We’re going to shift toward a digital engineering model for all acquisitions going forward. That means having a digital headquarters and having people on the force that are digitally fluent.”

Gen. John “Jay” Raymond,
Chief of Space Operations, U.S. Space Force

“If we don’t embrace digital, we’ll end up losing Airmen in the long term. It’s a retention issue.”

Gen. Arnold Bunch Jr.,
Commander,
U.S. Air Force Materiel Command

Digital transformation defined

“Digital transformation” means different things to different people, and that’s okay.

Today there are a vast number of digital programs happening across the Department of the Air Force, and they span the full spectrum of innovation. Some teams are leveraging digital tools and technology on legacy systems; others are designing, prototyping, and testing solutions in an entirely digital world. All are doing their part to drive change, but how much greater could this impact be with a unified approach?

Currently, the Department’s digital efforts are often disconnected, which means we’re missing out on countless opportunities to share knowledge and improve efficiency. It’s time to radically change the way we work, so we can deliver war-winning capabilities at the speed of relevance.

When the Department has transformed and embraced a truly digital culture, we’ll all be equipped with the best technologies, tools, and processes. We’ll operate in integrated environments with authoritative data sources, collaborating to tackle common problems at scale. And we’ll ultimately have a more engaged and effective workforce that is empowered to fast track well-informed decisions.
